Giving Back

In her recent Newsweek column Write for Your Life, Anna Quindlen wrote: “The new movie Freedom Writers isn’t entirely about the themes the trailers suggest. It isn’t only about gang warfare and racial tensions and tolerance… Freedom Writers is about the power of writing in the lives of ordinary people. That’s a lesson everyone needs.”

Write On Writers offers workshops for at risk girls and boys at such organizations as Today’s Youth Matter and at Women Care, a center providing services for women who are dealing with Cancer.

Workshops are designed to create a supportive and safe environment for participants and to demonstrate that writing is a form of personal freedom – a vehicle to make sense of life and the world in which we live.

Writing can and does transform lives!

You must write every single day of your life…You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads….may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.

- Ray Bradbury
